First Look
First Quantum of Solace Trailer Hits Hard, Fast
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on June 30, 2008

I believe that myself and my good friend Pete from Slashfilm just had a serious moment of clarity — here we are, sitting in L.A. after the junket for The Dark Knight, both trying to knock out some news stories for all of you and up pops this new trailer for the upcoming 22nd James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Almost in unison, we watch the trailer and proceed to make a reference along the lines of “wow, that looks like it is a Bourne film.”
And sure, we both know that Bond was around long before Jason Bourne was a figment of Paul Greengrass’ presumably steadicamed wet dreams, but the action in the following trailer is oddly reminiscent of the fast-paced, high flying energy of the Bourne franchise. Combine that with the flashy, colorful shots that are almost direct descendants of the flamboyant Bond films of the 70s and we’ve got ourselves a damn impressive trailer. But enough talk, it is time to trailer.
Watch the Quantum of Solace Trailer:
If you are like me, and you have been inadvertantly staying away from this production, then this trailer might just hit you like a ton of bricks — it is intense, interesting and it leads me to believe that this film is going to be wicked. Alright, so maybe I won’t go that far — but the trailer is certainly badass in every way — which should lead to me paying a little bit more attention.
Quantum of Solace is scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2008. The trailer can be seen in High Definition over at AOL Moviefone.
What do you think of the first Quantum of Solace trailer?

first things first….It seems, well its obvious that the departure from the old style laid back bond is well and truly gone. Out with the gadget and in with the hard knocks..bourne style. Thats not a bad thing at all. Sweet trailer.
and D. Craig’s bond looks VERY VERY RUGGED..cant wait!

I liked the trailer and I can’t wait to see the film, but I don’t know yet if I like my Bond more Bourne than Bond. Well at least that’s the thought I had from this first trailer though, got to reserved judgment after seeing it though.

“bourne bond” . i want action not english people talking

Yeah I agree. I find the trailer gives an impression that this isn’t a cakewalk Bond movie. It’s going to be hard, fast and brilliant.

Casino Royale was easily the best Bond film and the new one looks to be more of the same. Looks awesome, gritty, and brilliant.

Oh my god. Whoever it is, thank you for reviving the 007 franchise!

Now, there is one good Bond movie. It looks way more exciting (action - packed) than Casion Royale.

ERROR:
I’m soory, I misspelled Casino with Casion. Soooo sorry Bond fans.

This trailer has produces too many boners to effectively write out why, so I’ll say this: I can’t wait!

It looks AMAZING. Not sure why the guy above is saying it looks boring, though… the trailer makes the film look gritty, action-packed and really, REALLY intense. More or less like a pumped-up Casino Royale.
Hope it lives up to the expectations. For the moment, we at least have one AWESOME trailer.

Lets not forget that this is a restart of the Bond franchise not a continuation, so it holds no deference to the past other than the names, its not respectful to call this the best Bond ever as its a new Bond for new era, its not a remake, the previous bonds where of their time and Daniel Craig’s Bond is for a new generation, they are completely different and frankly thats how it should be.
Yes the other bonds where a bit trashy at times and a bit camp at others and the bad jokes didn’t stand the test of time but try watching them with an open mind and you cannot compare the last 2 films with OHMSS, Thunderball or Goldfinger, you could not compare the “old” Bond to ANYTHING of the time.
But the new Bond films are so reminiscent of so many other action/thriller films out now its difficult to tell them apart from the Bourne franchise or any other action movie of the last 8 years.
Frankly as good as the new bond films are ,(and they are good) they are just another couple of spy movies the same all all the other new stuff out now, and thats all they ever will be.
They are NOTHING new .

The old Bond’s may have been appropriate for their times. It is refreshing too see that powers that be have chosen to bring Bond up to current action status than to let him flounder and try to grow old with his original fans. My wife will attest- “it’s been awhile since Bond could take off his shirt and get way with it like Craig does”.
As for all the Bourne compare- so what. Another cool agent franchise.

Don t you mean “Just” another cool agent franchise, because thats all it is now,
And frankly if all an actor has to do is to be able to getaway with taking off his shirt to bring another dimension to a character, then all is lost

These new Craig films are highly enjoyable, clever, and undeniably badass. The Bourne comparisons are understandable, but it seems like everyone must be a film critic theses days: i enjoy movies more when i kick back, suspend any lingering disbelief, and let myself say: yes, well then, james bond just fell out of a car that was travelling at 150kph and survived with minimal injury, that is perfectly believable. So if we’re in for another dose of Bourne, i’ll order two prescriptions and thoroughly enjoy the ride. That said, wouldn’t it be silly if llamas somehow determined the outcome of the plot in quantam solace?

looks great, gonna have to go see but hopefully this film will not take a action orientated backstep to material like die another day.

It seems good in the movie trailer, lots of action pact movie. I think it is good writing from Canadian Paul Haggis hired by Mr. Michael Wilson
Since Ms. Whinehouse is not singing the title song, who is singing the title song?

This movie is going to be the best Bond film since the Sean Connery era. Everything about it looks classy…the chair dragging across the floor, an old-school interrogation, the classic Bond in the desert walking up with a gun…what’s not to love.
Also, to answer the previous poster (Brydone Gale)’s question, they still don’t know who is going to write the song. Current rumors include Alicia Keys, Duffy and Leonna Lewis. This movie is going to be the Best Bond Film Ever, but i have some concern “Did thay add some homophobic element to Bond..The dialog “How much time we got” sounds like so inappropriate.. Please don’t make Bond or Daniel a Gay.
