Great …. I never expected AVATAR to even cross 1 billion looking at the first weekend boxoffice but now I think even $2 billion is possible. The Oscar Awards should definitely help the movie in the next few weeks.

AVATAR will continue to be Top #1 for the 7th weekend in a row and maybe even the 8th weekend when it will most likely lose its place in the 9th weekend for “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and then for “Shutter Island”

Who ever said avatar was the best, the article just said its the biggest grossing film. Besides, best is a subjective term, most people cant agree on anything, let alone artistic tastes. Sure it was overhypde, sure there are better movies, but right now james cameron is king of the world. sorry had to do it

No there's not. Avatar's been a work in progress for many many years, James Cameron has been killing himself. Innovative technology was created. While the story was indeed weak, I do feel it deserves the success it has received.

It's 60% ticket prices, 40% hype. Avatar was a good film, no doubt about it, but is it really THE BEST?? I think not. I'm not so sure it was even better than Titanic. I just hope now that studios can now go back to making movies…
…Because, if you haven't noticed by now, the primary type of film Hollywood was capable of making since 1997 was action-packed, disaster monstrocities, all done in the hope to awe and amaze audiences to a point of submission.

I wish to see a nicely made drama, or a REAL science fiction (more 2001: Space Odyssey, less Terminator).

I'm now here in Asia. Its been three weeks, and Avatar is still showing on major and big movie theaters. It is also doing well here. Avatar is really a very nice movie. I can watch it over and over again on 3D.

Shouldn't you adjust for inflation when comparing Avatar's and Titanic's gross?
