First Look: Vin Diesel in Babylon A.D.
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on October 21, 2007
Do you remember back in the day? Back when Vin Diesel was making films like Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick? Back then he was on the verge of being cool with the fanboy population. Then he made films like xXx and The Pacifier and we all lost hope. Still, the thought alone of Diesel headlining a Babylon A.D. flick was enough to pique the interest of some. But then again, once you combine the fact that there were tons of production problems with the following poster, it’s back to the world of pain and frustration . Take a look at the new poster below, courtesy of First Showing’s ShowEast coverage.

Plot Synopsis: Veteran-turned-mercenary Thoorop (Diesel) takes the high-risk job of escorting a woman from Russia to China. Little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah.
Babylon A.D. is set for release on February 29, 2008.

Knockaround Guys–great movie.
That being said (joked), check out Diesel in “Find Me Guilty”–he’s actually damn funny in that one. Solid flick, best Diesel since “Boiler Room.”

I love the new poster and can hardly wait to see the movie of Dantec’s cult novel.

In my opinion, none of Vin’s movies were “terrible”. I loved XXX. And so he made a family movie. I think Hollywood and the rest of the critics have that predujice that guys who look like Vin shouldn’t know how to act or be in anything other than action films. He’s a versatile guy. I wish folks would stop trying to pigeon hole him!
