First Look: Taboo as Vega in ‘Street Fighter’

Our good friend Christopher M. sent us over a few new photos from the upcoming film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, which hits theaters later this month, so we thought we’d be nice and share them with you. Above you will see a first look at Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation) as Maya, and below we get our first look at Black Eyed Peas member Taboo as the blade-wielding Spaniard (at least he was Spanish in the game) Vega. In the 1994 live-action Street Fighter film, Vega was played by Native American actor Jay Tavare and was limited to only three lines of dialog. Fans of the video game might think that this time around the filmmakers might take him back to his Spanish heritage, but I suppose that just wasn’t in the cards. Whether or not Taboo brings authentic badassery to the character is yet to be seen, though that mask does look pretty menacing.
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak (Doom, Exit Wounds). It stars Kristen Kreuk, Chris Klein, Michael Clarke Duncan, Robin Shou and Neal McDonough. It hits theaters February 27, 2009.
