First Look: Speed Racer Photos and Behind-the-Scenes Footage!

Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on December 6, 2007

Our good friends over at FirstShowing.net seem to have a knack for finding some of the coolest photos and media for upcoming films. I guess it may be that it only makes their slick looking site prettier, but who knows. Either way, they have dug up 8 awesome new photos from the upcoming Wachowskis movie Speed Racer, which will be racing into theaters this May. Also included was a spot from Entertainment Tonight (seen below), who will also be debuting the first trailer for the flick on tonight’s show. And after seeing these stills from the film, we will definitely be looking forward to that!

First the footage from Entertainment Tonight.

And then, the awesome stills from the film.

Up for Discussion: After seeing these, are you excited about Speed Racer? Where does this rank among the films of 2008 (Dark Knight, Iron Man, Indy 4) in terms of excitement?

Josh says:

Trippy. Looks like a Tim Burton flick.

Sadly, though, amongst the films of ‘08 this probably does not make my Top 5 or maybe even 10. I was never a Speed Racer fan and though it looks like it’ll be pretty vivid I doubt there will be much substance. I don’t think Matthew Fox will be able to have any fun with this role, I hope he loosens up. Additionally, what is up with ET always referring to Joel Silver as the “Super Producer??” Is this a nickname Mel Gibson gave him, in addition to “No Good Jew?”

Neil Miller says:

Josh — I was annoyed by that as well. I kept wondering to myself, “What’s with the Joel Silver knob slobbering?” Did he pay them for this?

If you watched it tonight, you would have seen even more of the Joel Silver love fest. It was so bad that I had to go puke, causing me to miss the world premiere of the ‘Speed Racer’ trailer.
