Liev Schreiber as SabretoothSure, we know what Hugh Jackman looks like when he gets all revved up in Wolverine mode, but fans of the Marvel Universe have been anxious to see what Liev Schreiber will look like when he takes on the role of Sabretooth in the upcoming film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

JustJared just posted some spy photos from the Wolverine set in Australia, which can all be seen here. From where I am sitting, Schreiber doesn’t look bad as Sabretooth. The claws are small, but the character’s power will come with the way that he uses them — and Liev Schreiber has always been an actor who can deliver a good onscreen presence. Odds are that he will give Sabretooth an intensity that could match that of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. But that is all speculation at this point. For now all we have are a few spy photos.

As for the rest of the mutants who will be part of this Wolverine origin story, we have already confirmed that The Blob (Kevin Durand) has been eyed by producers, as well as Beak (Dominic Monaghan), Silver Fox (Lynn Collins), Gambit (Taylor Kitsch) and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds).

We will, of course, keep you updated as more information arises from the set of Wolverine.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is scheduled to hit theaters May 1, 2008.
