Gossip site Faded Youth snapped a few quick pics of Johnny Depp on his first day of shooting for Michael Mann’s upcoming film Public Enemies in Columbus, Wis.

Fans were on hand to catch their first glimpse of Depp as the infamous gangster. The film follows the story of the government’s attempt to take down John Dillinger in the 1930′s. Oscar Winner Marion Cotillard and Christian Bale will also star.

Public Enemies began production this month and will hit theaters some time in 2009.
