2009preview-header

I know that I just said this morning that we wouldn’t be posting anything else until tomorrow, as we were taking New Year’s Day off, but this was just too good to pass up. Entertainment Weekly has published some brand new photos from a few of 2009’s more anticipated film events, including our first shot at Jack Black and Michael Cera in Harold Ramis’ Year One. The story follows two “hunter-gatherers (Black and Cera) who are banished from their village and wander through scenes from the Old Testament, encountering the likes of Cain and Abel (David Cross and Paul Rudd) and Abraham (Hank Azaria).” As Ramis explained to EW, the idea has been stewing for quite a while, since the days when Ramis was bouncing around improv ideas with Bill Murray and John Belushi.

Year One hits theaters on June 19, 2009. Check out the first photo below.

  • I am holding off judgment on this one, but......
Cera is holding out on Arrested Development for these kind of roles?
  • Nevernude
I agree. Don't be a douche Michael Cera....we all love you and you know it, but my patience is running thin. Is your upcoming slate littered with countless Oscar-potential movies that you won''t sign up on an AD movie? Come on....
  • I see some Catholics and other church thinking that Ramis is brewing controversy over this idea, but who cares?
  • Is this A.D. or B.C.? Either way, I see some serious chronological inconsistencies. Granted, the bible is fiction, but still...
  • Wait, are you saying that the things in the bible are not real? I stumble in disbelief and will take this up with my priest at O'Brien's Pub over a few pints and some cornbeef.

"The story follows two “hunter-gatherers (Black and Cera) who are banished from their village and wander through scenes from the Old Testament, encountering the likes of Cain and Abel (David Cross and Paul Rudd) and Abraham (Hank Azaria)."

    BC obviously.
  • I see. Well I was joking more than anything, and it's a comedy so this is irrelevant, but if you want to be precise... The movie is called Year One, and 1 B.C. is a few thousand years after Cain, Abel, and Abraham... so how exactly are Black and Cera encountering them?
  • In my mind nothing can be that bad with Jack Black in it and from what I've read this could have some potential.

Love the fact this is going to piss off all the bible bangers out there.
  • Looking at that picture gave me a RIngo Starr "Caveman" flashback.
  • Wait, David Cross is Cain?

    I'm sold.
