First Look: Ellen Page and Michael Cera in ‘Juno’

Would you like to know about one of the things that pisses me off about missing the Toronto International Film Festival? How about the fact that I am going to miss a shit-ton of great films. My good friend Peter over at /Film wrote up 65 Must See Movies at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival. And there are about 50 films on his list that I got all “drooly” over. One particular flick is Jason Reitman’s follow-up to Thank You for Smoking entitled Juno.
From /Film: “Ellen Page stars as Juno (also the film’s title), a whip-smart teen confronting an unplanned pregnancy by her classmate Bleeker (Michael Cera). With the help of her hot best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby), Juno finds her unborn child a “perfect†set of parents: an affluent suburban couple, Mark and Vanessa (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), longing to adopt. Luckily, Juno has the total support of her parents (JK Simmons and Allison Janney) as she faces some tough decisions, flirts with adulthood and ultimately figures out where she belongs.”
Holy smokin’ suburban comedies, Batman! Jason Bateman is comedic gold at every turn, Michael Cera is the new king of uncomfortable comedy and Ellen Page is sensational. Combine those three with Jennifer Garner, JK Simmons and Allison Janney and you have one of the tastier ensemble casts since well, Reitman’s last flick. I can’t wait see the reviews that come out of Toronto for this one. I will definitely be keeping it on my radar.
On the Side: Ellen Page is best known for playing Kittie Pride in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’, but did you know that she attended a Buddist High School? I did.
