First Look: Dev Patel on Fire in ‘The Last Airbender’
Movie News By Neil Miller on May 22, 2009 | (22) Comments
The folks at USA Today have unleashed the first cast pictures from the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan film The Last Airbender. Included in these first looks is a shot of Slumdog Millionaire Dev Patel as Zuko, the fire king and long-lost cousin of a member of the T-Birds (bad Grease joke #1) and Noah Ringer as Aang, the film’s hero who has the ability to use martial arts to manipulate the weather.
The USA Today’s article focuses not only on giving us a first look at the actors in their martial artsy garb, but also on the fact that both actors have studied martial arts in real life. Ringer, a Texas native, is a black belt who earned the role after sending in a homemade DVD of him practicing tae kwon do. Dev Patel also has a black belt in tae kwon do, which he earned prior to becoming an actor.
Check out the two first look photos above and below. The Last Airbender is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2, 2010.

What do you think, Airbenderheads, do these kids look authentic?
