Night at the Museum 2

USA Today has posted some first look photos from Night at the Museum 2, the family friendly follow-up to the hit 2006 film directed by Shawn Levy. The sequel will see the return of Ben Stiller as Larry Daley, a museum security guard who comes face to face with history when all of the museum’s displays come to life. The story will follow Larry to the Smithsonian, where he meets a host of new characters including Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams), General George Armstrong Custer (Bill Hader) and The Office’s Craig Robinson as one of the Tuskegee Airmen. It will also see the return of Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan asĀ  Jedediah and Octavius respectively.

Have a look at some of the photos below, the rest of which can be seen over at USA Today.

Another notable casting choice is Eugene Levy (American Pie, A Mighty Wind), who will play Einstein. Yes, that Einstein. Christopher Guest will also star as “Ivan the Terrible.” Sounds like fun if you ask me.

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian will hit theaters on May 22, 2009.

  • I hated the first film and this one doesn't look any better
  • I liked the first one. And not in the way that some people just like anything committed to celluloid, either. I thought it was clever, light and fun. That, and I have a huge thing for Amy Adams... A huge thing. So I will see your hate and raise you an "I think this will be good." :P
  • The first one was horrible, and a huge blockbuster. The sequel will most likely follow that example on both fronts. And as amazing as the cast is, they're all completely wasted with this drivel. (Although I'm sure it's good for their bank accounts.)

Mmmm.drivel. Please sir, may I have some mor'e?
  • Wow, special guest hater...Mr. Peter Sciretta. :) The first one was definitely a disappointment. But, Christopher Guest in a role that is not of his own creation will be a nice change. I'll make the excuse of having the kids drag me to see this one. :/
