The last time I wrote about Baghead, the follow-up to the 2005 SXSW Audience Award winning The Puffy Chair by writer/director tandem Jay and Mark Duplass, I was enjoying the soft, snowy goodness of Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival. Back in that other era, I wrote that this film was “not great, but a lot of fun, especially on a low budget.”
And that still holds true today, mere months later. Jay and Mark Duplass have a way about them that is uncanny. They seem to have a wonderful ability for making a film that is intentionally amateurish in appearance, but deceptively intelligent. Ultimately, their films become the guilty pleasures of the indie connoisseur. And as you can see, since January I have become more eloquent in my opinion of this film.
But pay no mind to all of that. Baghead is a lot of fun and you should check it out when it scores its limited release later this year. As well, you can check out more about the film over on Facebook.
