I fully realize that Iron Man 2 is coming out this week, and ohmygodit’sgoingtobeawesome, and all that, but high up on the anticipation scale is the new film from Conrol director Anton Corbijn, The American.

This new trailer is one more reason that anticipation is growing:

George Clooney actually seems to be more subdued here, acting instead of just being George Clooney. That can only be a good thing, because his charm will ooze out even if he’s a sullen misanthrope who hopes to escape the bagman game and go straight.

The American is in theaters September 1st.

What do you think?
