sherlock-holmes-header1

There’s no doubt that Warner Bros. wants this version of Sherlock Holmes, of which the vision is derived from the wild mind of Guy Ritchie, to be the exciting, exhilarating version of Sherlock Holmes. This runs in contrary to what many Holmes fans would suggest is the true nature of the character created by Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes has always been a thinker, a scientist and a clever detective. But Ritchie’s version seems to take on Holmes’ wild side — the boxer, the philanderer, the smart-ass. Fair enough, I suppose. It should make for a shiny, glossy Hollywood actioner fit for a holiday weekend release.

With that in mind, check out the new trailer for the film below, which comes courtesy of MTV. In it, we are given more of the film’s plot — including the looming presence of Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), the film’s mysterious villain. As well, we see more action!

Sherlock Holmes stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong. It is in theaters December 25, 2009.

  • I can't believe there is a section of the population that doesn't think this movie will bite: http://www.popbunker.net/2009/10/a-study-in-dre...
  • I absolutely adore Rachel McAdams, and I think she's a prime talent, but I'm almost slightly disappointed to hear her talking in this trailer. After the previous footage of this movie showed her doing nothing but emitting sexy little noises - I was kind of hoping that's all her character did ;).
  • I've loved every trailer for this so far, and this one is no different... but why does that final carriage shot look so goddamn green-screened! It's like a driving sketch on SNL.

  • Looks exciting. Ever since Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Robert has been one of the must sees in my book.

A friend of mine got to see this a few weeks ago. CGI and sound weren't finished, but she said she loved it. Jokes, action, and story were all top notch. Can't wait for it
