Wait, wait, let me get this straight. A corporate and military conglomorate wants to spend tons of money and lives on a war with an alien culture and planet for a rare mineral that is under their villiage? Why don't they set up a covert mining site say 20 miles from the village and mine a tunnel under it to get the ore without the natives knowing about it? Wouldn't that make more sense than trying to create Avatars and blowing the planet up?

Regardless of when the script was written, Insurrection was in theatres first. Thus, the perception will be for some that this is a copy in some way of Insurrection. As they say, perception is reality. Of course, Insurrection performed so poorly at the box office that most of the moviegoing public won't even notice this although I wouldn't be surprised if some critics point this out.

I am going on opening night for this movie for sure in Imax 3d . Titanic still the highest grossing film ever and won 11 Academy Awards. So online blog haters if you don't watch this movie it will be still a big hit.

The script was around in 1994, so it's more likely that Insurrection copied Avatar. Seriously. I heard a variation of that argument today on a message board when it was being compared to some video games.

Sort of reminds me of Star Trek Insurrection…don't know if that was what Cameron was shooting for.
