It is with great sadness that I am forced to report that FSR will not be trekking out into the wilderness to cover many of the great fall film festivals, including Telluride, Toronto and the official home of weird, Fantastic Fest in Austin. We are currently in the process of some behind the scenes shuffling that will ultimately put us in a better position to bring our patented festival coverage to more fests next year, but that meant sacrificing some of the good ones this year. But stick with us either way, as you never know what sort of surprises may pop up.

Back to the news now, as we are getting reports that Kevin Smith will be traveling to Austin on September 18 to show his upcoming movie Zack and Miri Make a Porno to open Fantastic Fest. The film, which does not hit theaters until October 31, will be followed by a Q&A session with the director, who as you know is always entertaining with a crowd.

Needless to say, this has me regretting, at least to an extent, our decision to skip Fantastic Fest. But if any of our faithful readers will be attending and would like to send us a report, we’d happily post it. You can head over to the Fantastic Fest official site for more info about the event.
