Devil May CareTo commemorate the 100th birthday of James Bond creator and all around smooth operator Ian Fleming, the estate has hired author Sebastian Faulks to pen a new, classically inspired Bond story entitled Devil May Care. The novel, already completed, will hit store shelves on May 28th, the late Fleming’s birthday.

The accreditation on the book jacket reads “Sebastian Faulks writing as Ian Fleming,” an interesting twist, right? The author was hired to write in a style that closely followed Flemming’s in tribute, in an attempt to continue the Bond stories in a voice that was familiar to readers and paying homage to the man himself. Flemming’s last novel, Octopussy and the Living Daylights was published posthumously in 1966. Devil May Care is said to occur after this storyline and was written, says Faulks, “to sound as though Fleming wrote it.”

Take a peak at the book cover and let us know what you think. Looks like a pretty sweet book jacket to go along with an interesting idea. Here’s hoping it rocks! At the very least, the title makes a bit more sense than Quantum of Solace.
