Never overlook the prescient nature of some amateur poster makers, that’s what I always say. And considering the posters we’ve seen from previous Marvel flicks like Iron Man and Iron Man 2, I wouldn’t put it past the studio to have a poster very similar to this one — sent to me this afternoon by reader Christopher M. — when Joss Whedon’s The Avengers finally makes its way into theaters…

With a little bit of digging, I discovered that the poster was made by DeviantArt user themadbutcher, who has several variations of The Avengers among his collection, along with posters for Die Hard 5, The Dark Knight Rises and a few really solid efforts for Scream 4. If you’ve got the time, his gallery is worth checking out. For now, lets just focus on his take on The Avengers, which can be seen below.
