Goal II: Living the Dream

It took me a moment after receiving these new pictures, but after I had some time to think, I remembered the highly-acclaimed film Goal!: The Dream Begins, which hit theaters back in 2005. It told the story of a young man from Barrios section of Los Angeles who rose up to become a world famous footballer. And by footballer, I mean the European definition of the word, round balls and all. Since it came to pass on ‘05, I have not been able to find a soccer fan who was not really into this flick, which says something, as soccer is the world’s single most popular sport.

On the heels of that film’s success comes Goal II: Living the Dream. Star Kuno Becker is back as Santiago Munez to continue his journey onto the huge stage of world soccer. The film will also star Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner) and feature appearances from plenty of famous footballers, including David Beckham and Ronaldinho. We’ve got a special exclusive set of photos from the film, which can be seen below. It will be in theaters in the United States on August 29, 2008.

  • uhm... exclusive? I live here in Peru and the film was released in theares about a year ago... I even have a DVD copy of the film. I guess the movie was released everywhere in the world last year except for the U.S....

I'm pretty sure you can buy the DVD through any decent website. And if you're wondering if the film's worth watching in theatres... I'd say it's OK. The first film is definitely superior. I'm looking forward to the third flick, though...

I hadn't seen any pictures yet anywhere of this movie. I'm glad they are here because now I know that Rutger Hauer is in this movie. How awesome is that? Blade Runner man! That's like my all time favorite movie so and I liked Goal 1 so this one should be good too if he is in it.
The movie doesn't come out here until the 29th. It sucks we had to wait so much longer than everybody else. I guess it is only fair because the US gets like every other movie first.

With no great soccer films in the recent years, I appreciate the trilogy of a man's journey
through a dream many of us wish we could experience. The U.S. probably gets it last
because we're just catching on to what futbol means to the rest of the world.

I LOVED the first Goal and can't wait to see the second one!!! I see Santiago is living the
baller's dream in that white Ferrari!!! And what's with the haircut?! Man, i KNOW this is
setting up the third film. And no matter what you say, there's no way I'm not going to see it
in the theater. Can't compare the sounds and impact of the game on the big screen to what
you get on DVD no matter how big your flat screen is. Plus, my girl's gonna wanna see
Becks, in all his glory, on the giant silver screen.

I actually saw this movie about a year ago IN THE U.S. i downloaded it and was waiting for
them to release it. when the time never came i assumed it was going direct to dvd. o well.
it was a great film film though with plenty of cameos. too bad half the cameos are from
players that no longer play for the teams they played for in the movie (Beckham, Zidane,
    etc.)
  • Yeah wow out a year and a half ago here in the UK so I'll skip the exclusive and wander two feet to my DVD collection where the film has sat for a year...
  • Ghostface
I downloaded the movie as well but I still plan to see the movie in a theater in a couple weeks. Watching a movie on my laptop isn't quite the same. I download a lot of movies but I still watch the really good ones on the screen usually the ones that having a big screen makes an impact like action movies (in this case soccer action). I am a big Real Madrid fan and I wanna watch me some supersized REAL!

It's a Lamborghini not a Ferrari. Black crest Gold Bull not Yellow crest Black horse.
Doesn't really matter I guess, driving either one would be "living the dream" for me.
  • Wasn't there some kind of backstory in Goal I about a kid who drove a car into the ground?
  • Ghostface
    @ Supernetuser
I don't think so. However, in Goal 2 a kid does steal the white Lamborghini that is in one of the pictures and there is a chase scene with the little kid driving through the streets of Madrid that is pretty cool.
  • actually i think that movie came out in the US like 1 or 2 yrs cause i live in the US and i all ready got a copy of the movie;;its pretty cool;;
