As we’ve shown time and time again, we are fans of direct-to-DVD fair — especially the kind that involve (a) horror or (b) action. We blame our schoolyard man-crushes on Seagal and Van Damme for this phenomenon. And it now appears as if Oscar-winner turned “Where are they now?” candidate Cuba Gooding Jr. is looking to get himself into the ranks of straight-to-DVD icon with Way of War, the story of paramilitary operative David Wolfe who stumbles upon an international conspiracy connecting presidential cabinet members to a Middle Eastern terrorist plot. Wanting to expose the truth, Wolfe defies orders and returns to the US as an army of one fighting for American security and integrity.

Co-starring with Gooding is Juno and Spider-Man star J.K. Simmons, another office favorite of ours. So while the dialog in the exclusive clip below isn’t exactly polished, we still have hope for this one. Despite some stumbles (Radio), Cuba Gooding is still a good actor. And we are contractually obligated to give every J.K. Simmons movie at least one full viewing. Therefore we will be checking out Way of War, which hits DVD shelves on February 10, 2009.
