Exclusive: Anvil Clip Puts the Pedal to the Metal to the Grave
Movie News By Cole Abaius on April 8, 2009 | (8) CommentsAs if you couldn’t tell by our review, we love Anvil! The Story of Anvil. It’s a fantastic documentary about an earnest band just trying to make it big in a world that seems to have passed them by. There’s nothing pretentious about them, nothing false or phony.
The film tells the story of a major metal band that somehow never broke through. They are still trying to make good on a promise that they made to each other when they were fourteen – they’d become famous or die trying.
Now, the documentary is achieving something that very few ever do – it’s getting released. More than that, the film has become a phenomenon that is propelling itself and the band to new heights. Appropriately, this movie may be the thing that finally launches a deserving band into the fame stratosphere.
We got our hands on an exclusive clip of Lips from Anvil and their head of security Jethro talking about loving fans and going to war with music:
That sort of dedication is admirable. This clip is a great example of the love and respect that they have for music and the humility that they share in the face of it. They love what they do, and they aren’t going to give up doing it even in the face of monetary hardship or the harsh cries from their peers to settle down with real careers.
I can’t stress enough how fantastic this movie is. I haven’t seen a documentary with this much energy and heart since I saw Air Guitar Nation. But be warned – if you go check out the flick opening on Friday, your ear drums will thirst for Anvil’s music, and you’ll want to quench that thirst.
