Earlier this week we reported that Evan Rachel Wood, star of The Wrestler and better half of Marilyn Manson had been replaced in Zack Snyder’s upcoming film Sucker Punch by Jena Malone. And now assuming that our powers of logic are still strong — which they are, ladies — we know why. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Wood has joined the cast of True Blood for the show’s upcoming second season as Sophie-Ann, the vampire Queen of Louisiana.

According to the report, Sophie-Ann is a 500-year old French vampire who is charming, wily, ruthless and wise. She’s a diplomat who has (or has had) “many of history’s most famous people on speed dial.” We’re not sure how you could have someone like George Washington on speed dial, but you get the point. Also according to the report, Wood is booked for two episodes that will run during the second half of this coming season and if all goes well, her character would be likely to return for a third season. Needless to say, this is a relatively major character.

True Blood will be back on HBO in June.

  • It is going to be very interesting to see how Alan Ball is going to write up the Queen in True Blood! I just hope he does not follow the book and keeps developing the love story between Bill and Sookie! Can't wait for season 2!
