Englund a Director, not Kruger
Movie News By Robert Fure on February 5, 2008 | Be the First To Comment
Variety is reporting that Robert Englund, the menace behind the makeup in the Nightmare on Elm Street films will be directing the Christopher Lee vehicle The Vij.
The movie will revolve around a young priest who has his head screwed with by an evil genie that coerces him to commit murder and fall in love with a mysterious woman. Riiiiiight. Now I can’t say that sounds altogether good or interesting, but who knows. Englund has been infront of the camera long enough that he should have some tricks up his sleeve.
Its been floating around the web that upcoming relaunch/remake of the Nightmare on Elm Street films won’t feature Robert Englund as the instantly recognizable blade-handed Freddy Krueger. While it sucks to see Englund, who bleeds Nightmare, leave the role, it does make sense to have a fresh voice for a fresh start. Hopefully Englund can glove up once again in the future, possibly for another Freddy vs Jason?
Until then, Englund will direct this, his third feature, and also star alongside Christopher Lee.
