As we reported a while back, another story by sci-fi master Philip K. Dick is headed to the movies and (according to Variety) Emily Blunt has snagged the lead, starring alongside Matt Damon.  The Adjustment Bureau, adapted from Dick’s short story “Adjustment Team” published in 1954, starts production in September. Philip K. Dick’s work has been filmed numerous times including two of the more successful adaptations Minority Report starring Tom Cruise, and Blade Runner starring Harrison Ford based on the novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”

It’s an adaptation of  a short story about a real estate broker who discovers life on Earth is really a manufactured reality controlled by omnipotent beings. In the film Blunt will portray a ballerina who complicates the life of a congressman played by Matt Damon. The congressman tries to find out more about the forces spinning his life out of control.

The film is written and directed by George Nolfi who wrote The Bourne Ultimatum.

Is there a Philip K. Dick story or novel that you’d like to see made into a film?

  • What a coincidence. I tried watching "Blade Runner" tonight and I was bored to tears, lol. I stopped after an hour in and just read the plot summary on Wikipedia. I do like "Minority Report" though.
  • Wow! This movie is going to be a hit! Emily Blunt and Matt Damon! What a perfect combination!
