Stan Winston

It has been a sad string of months in Hollywood, with multiple passings of some of the great talents in the industry of film. This afternoon the emails came streaming in from fans that the great Stan Winston, the man behind some of the awesome special effects from films such as The Terminator, Batman Returns, Predator, The Monster Squad and most recently Iron Man. Winston, the winner of 4 Academy Awards, has long been considered one of the masters of practical effects. His company Stan Winston Studio is currently in work on projects such as Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, GI Joe and James Cameron’s Avatar.

It goes without saying that the industry has lost a truly talented individual. And while I have personally never met Winston, I have heard that he was truly a great man to work with. He will be missed.
