Edward Norton Grows the Green in ‘Leaves of Grass’

Edward Norton in Leaves of Grass

Leave it to one of my favorite “that guys” of all-time, actor/director Tim Blake Nelson, to combine two things that are always welcome in my house: Edward Norton and marijuana. Alright, so maybe not the marijuana, as I have an image to uphold, but Edward Norton is always welcome — he’s a decent chap.

Anyway, Norton will be starring in Nelson’s upcoming film Leaves of Grass as twin brothers, one an Ivy League philosophy professor, the other a small-time and brilliant marijuana grower. The professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown for a doomed scheme against a local drug lord that unravels his life. Billed as a “comedic thriller,” the film is set to begin shooting in Louisiana over the next few weeks with Nu Image/Millenium putting up a sub-$15 million dollar budget.

In addition to Norton, Tim Blake Nelson will play the best friend of one of the brothers, Susan Sarandon will play their eccentric mother, Keri Russell will play a love interest, and Richard Dreyfuss will play the local drug lord. Along with the casting news comes the film’s first teaser poster, which can be seen below. No release date has been set as of yet.

  • Troy
I'd watch anything with norton in it.
  • This sounds like a pretty interesting film. I love Norton's work and can't wait to see some footage from this film.
  • Amen, Troy. Norton is probably the best actor working today. There are others with talent as strong as his, but he's got the best eye for choosing really interesting, solid work.
