olmos-1

During an appearance this past weekend at Wizard World in Chicago, Battlestar Galactica star and living legend of awesome Edward James Olmos said that his future, and the future of humanity, rest in Michel Gondry’s upcoming big screen version of The Green Hornet.

The news comes to us from the folks at Hollywood Snitch, who were on-hand for the event. Olmos took time away from talking sci-fi geek properties such as Blade Runner and Battlestar to say this about his near future:

“I’m on my way to do The Green Hornet. It’ll be a lot of fun with Seth [Rogen], Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz.”

There was no mention of what character he might play, or whether this role will be on the side of good or evil. But if I had to take a guess — which I do, mind you — I’d say that EJO will be in some sort of leadership role. A police chief, an authority figure, possibly the man who must live with the entire fate of humanity on his shoulders. He just seems like that sort of chap.

I will keep my ear to the floor (or the garbage cans outside the Sony lot) for more details, but until then lets take a moment to say that you can see Olmos next in the upcoming TV movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan.
