Going to the New Beverly Cinema is an experience. If you live in LA and haven’t been, you’ve got no excuse for it. In fact, even if you live somewhere else and haven’t been, you still don’t have an excuse – there’s life to live out there people! Hop a train! Be adventurous instead of sitting around on the couch!
Actually, you sitting on the couch increases our site hits, so keep it up. But if you needed a reason to head to LA to the Beverly, Reject fan favorite, director Edgar Wright is giving it to you in the form of his very own movie festival.
The New Beverly released the news on its MySpace page that the man behind Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and cult classic Spaced will be picking the films that grace its aperture.
The hits began over the weekend with Bugsy Malone and Phantom of the Paradise, but there’s a ton left to come:
Flash Gordon
Danger: Diabolik
The Last Boy Scout
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
An American Werefolf in London
Tremors
Top Secret!
Bananas
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls
Head
Raising Arizona
Evil Dead II
The list reads like a who’s who of movies you should have already seen. Wright has all his bases covered from classic Bava horror to Monkees head trips and a little Shane Black mastery thrown in for good measure. Check out the New Beverly for more information.
