Eddie Muphy Back For Beverly Hills Cop 4

So sadly, it looks like Eddie Murphy hasn’t used up all of his credibility in Hollywood. Murphy will be pushing 50 when, according to Variety, he will attempt to reprise his role as Axel Foley from the popular Beverly Hills Cop films. I can just imagine Murphy standing in front of a mirror proclaiming, “If Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Harrison Ford can do it…So can I!”.

Murphy will attempt to channel the success of the recently resurrected action heroes like Rambo, Rocky, Indiana Jones and John McClane. Murphy took the Axel Foley character to heights unforeseen, only to bury it during his mid 90′s fall to shame. After building some professional momentum with his performance in Dreamgirls, the “multi-talented” actor flushed it all away on a little film called Norbit. To make matters worse, he is yet again placating to his own self-inflicted image with another film called Meet Dave. And now for the cherry on top of the sundae…The studio is negotiating with Brett Ratner to direct. The two are already teaming up for a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man, so I guess it makes as much sense as anything in Hollywood lately.
