Roger Ebert to Write Movie Reviews Again

Roger Ebert returns to writing movie reviewsIf you’ve been to Roger Ebert’s personal website in the last couple of months, you may have noticed that not much has been going on. He underwent surgery in January (a perfect time to do so if you’re a critic), hoping to regain his ability to speak. Sadly, there were complications and Ebert still cannot speak. Ebert will require at least one more surgery, TBD.

The good news is, according to the Associated Press, he will be returning to work at the end of the month and will be in attendance for his annual film festival, Ebertfest, which starts April 23.

“I will resume writing movie reviews shortly thereafter,” he said.

The Pulitzer Prize winning critic lost his ability to speak due to a cancerous growth on his salivary gland, an episode that began in the summer of 2006. After spending almost an entire year away from work trying to recover, Ebert returned as a full time critic back in the summer of 2007.

Ebert, 65, said he remains cancer free and is not ready to think about more surgery.
