Donald Trump Wants to Build a Movie Studio

If you’re looking to make a movie in the next few years, Donald Trump might have some ocean front property to sell you. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the hotel magnate/mattress salesman/former Presidential hopeful has begun the paperwork filing to create Trump Studio City in Miami-Dade County. His plans would create a studio twice as large as the nearby Universal Studios.
The whole prospect sounds full of potential, but there’s on giant red flag that comes with any large endeavor built in Florida. When County Commission Chairman, Joe Martinez, brought the project to the board he rhetorically asked what Hollywood has that they don’t. The simple answer? A massive movie-making infrastructure that doesn’t exist in the direct path of hurricanes.
But there definitely upsides if the move is pushed through and the studio becomes successful. Jobs and a boon to the local economy are the main attractions, but before the county starts foaming at the mouth to turn over their land to Trump, maybe they at least ask him for a long-form birth certificate.
