Sony Pictures has released the first teaser poster for their entry into the sci-fi fold this summer, Neill Blomkamp‘s District 9. And my isn’t it a poignant little piece of marketing. As you will see below, the poster comes with the tag “You Are Not Welcome Here” that fits perfectly with the tone that was set in the first trailer.
Based on the excitement that we saw around the trailer and the subsequent uncensored trailer that we posted earlier today, I’m guessing again that this should play well. The Peter Jackson produced project has been generating tons of buzz since its mysterious trailer debuted at ShoWest in April. Since then we’ve heard nothing but great things — and seeing some other great things from the first trailer. And with this poster, those good things continue.
District 9 hits theaters on August 14, 2009. Poster courtesy of Yahoo Movies.
