Discuss: Would Chris Pine Be a Good Fit for Green Lantern?
Discussion By Neil Miller on March 20, 2009 | (24) Comments
Over the past 12-15 hours, there has been a battle raging online over a Green Lantern casting rumor started by the folks over at IESB. It seems as though half of the internet is standing firm behind the news that Warner Bros. has offered the part of Hal Jordon (The Green Lantern) to Star Trek lead Chris Pine, while the other half of the internet has sources that say that it just isn’t happening. Currently, we are refusing to accept this news either way based on the fact that we still believe our Robert Fure will be cast in the role — he’s still waiting for that callback, but his agent Schlomo McDuckenstein is very optimistic.
But even though we know in our hearts of hearts that Fure has this role on lockdown, we still feel it necessary to let you kids fight this out in the comment area below. Pine, former star of such bigtime blockbusters as The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement and Just My Luck, has become a hot commodity in Hollywood since director J.J. Abrams chose him to play the iconic role of Captain James Tiberius Kirk, replacing the legendary William Shatner. And even though that movie is not yet out, there have already been heaping helpings of praise thrown in the direction of his performance. Director and pop culture commentary machine Kevin Smith went as far as to call Pine’s “the real deal” in a cryptic non-review of the film.
So what do you think, dear readers? Are you down with Chris Pine putting on the Green Lantern’s power ring? Also, for the purpose of discussion, these actors have also been rumored to be on WB’s short list: Jon Hamm, Nathan Fillion, Anton Yelchin and Sam Worthington.
