that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard. can you not knock a mechanic's work unless you can do a better repair job on your car yourself? or can you not blame a doctor who butchered your open heart surgery unless you could have done a better job yourself? or not condemn an airline pilot that crashes the plane your family was in because oh... you couldn't have flown the 747 yourself in any case?

lack of taste is one thing. but logic and the ability to think clearly should be sought after.

jin

why does this matter?! when it comes to bay, technical skill or management of logistical details can be admired APART from the value of the movie as a whole. and i believe peeps are talking about the movie as a whole and not bay's ability to calculate the amount of camera shake he can induce without destroying the lens. bay and lucas do NOT get a pass just because they can regurgitate pretty images or explosions.

My rating for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - (6.5/10)

I would rate the story (5/10)
The graphics would be around (8/10)

My suggestion: Watch this movie ONLY if you want to have a 2hr 30min of "mindless" entertainment. In other words watch it for the graphics, which I do not think is as good as the first movie for some reason.

Look at this
Wednesday box office of Transformers is the highest ever for any movie at $60 million in one day (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime...age=wed&...)
Thursday's box office showed that the collection dropped to $28 million (It's still the highest-grossing non-opening Thursday ever)
Regardless of the bad reviews this movie will make huge profits due to the belief that people have on this movie expecting it to be better than the first Transformers movie. Believe it or not, Transformers already got $200 million worldwide collection which covers its entire budget

After waiting an hour in the line-up to get the best seats for the IMAX show, I had very high expectations for the movie and unfortunately Transformers 2 has failed to meet my expectations even in the graphics field as I wasn't expecting a great story anyways. Before I say anything about the movie, I would like to tell you that the original Transformers movie is MUCH BETTER than this movie in ALL aspects (Yes including graphics). The only thing I think is better in Transformers 2 is the sound and that's all.

Graphics: One might think that since they spent $50 million more on this movie than the previous one, this is going to be much better. Well guess what, you are wrong, just like I was. I watched it in IMAX and if I didn't think the graphics are better. There were a lot of action scenes with the robots but seriously the graphics were not as good as I expected them to be. There are too many robots, 95% of the action is with the robots fighting with each other. All the transformation scenes and fights are shown in extreme closeup and so fast that I couldn't see shit (The closer the shot, the faster the movement and harder to see). I would've liked a full shot fights much better as I could see what's happening. There is minimal Damage in the city like in the last movie which I liked a lot. I wanted to see the fights happen in the city which would've been much better. The entire fight was in a friggin desert. You will be watching the desert scenes for over one hour which was a bit boring.

Story: I do not want to explain the pathetic story in detail because to be honest, most of it didn't even make sense to me. Many important things thats needs to be explained were ignored. There are SOOOOOO MANY unanswered questions in the movie. They do not explain anything clearly and give very little information on even the most important things. There is some humour in the movie but that's not enough to say that a story is good.

My brief understanding: The movie starts off in the 15000 B.C to tell us that the Transformers have existed on earth for ages. Then somehow Shia has a piece that has some writings in it and somehow all the information enters his brain. Then the Decepticons (bad robots) wants to kill Shia because they want the information from his brain. He escapes from them and while he is being protected, Optimus Prime was killed in the fight with the bad robots. Decepticons wants super powers and that is only possible from a machine that somehow ended up on the earth inside a pyramid. The ancient robots that built the machine strictly restricted all the robots from ever using it because they didn't want to earth to be destroyed and even had a war to protect it. If it wasn't meant to be used then why was it built in the first place. What's stupid here is that Shia has the map to the machine and some life giving key in his brain, but the decepticons end up at that place too without any map. They somehow know everything with the exact co-ordinates of where things are located, so I don't know why they need the information from Shia's brain. Anyhow, Shia gets the life giving key which turns into power when he touches it. He carries the powder until he gets blown up ... he dies for a minute and enters heaven and talks to the dead good Prime robots and then he comes back alive. The powder suddenly turns into original shape, Shia brings the dead Optimus Prime back to life with that thing. Now Optimus goes and kills the bad Robots and prevents the machine from being started. They said that if the Machine is started the sun will die/burn out

At the end, two or three handicapped Decepticons are left alive and they run away so that Michael Bay can make a Transformers 3

Oh Jesus Christ. Next time read the reasons why a film is rated what it is. The film was rated PG-13 for "intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material, and brief drug material."

I speak as a mother here, but I didn't understand why a movie based on children's toys had to be so foul and full of sexual jokes. Don't get me wrong, I am pretty dirty minded myself. However, when I take my children to a movie based on children's characters...I don't want them to hear the words, "Pussy" and "jack-ass" and all the others unless I prepare them. I just don't get why they changed the mood of the movie so drastically from the first.

I ended up blogging a shitload for it instead.

I enjoyed the first one as a fun ride , I went to see this one last night in spite of the negative reviews I read. Yes, there were nice explosions, yes, Megan and Isabel are absolutely scrumptious and yes, I nearly threw up at the sheer asininity of it. I wish I hadn't wasted my time and may I advise all the salivating gentlemen and ladies to just not bother if they cant stomach the lack of a plot, the preponderance of cheese and the abysmal direction of Mr. Bay. However, if big useless explosions, lots of special effects and a very very low form of humour just do it for you, go for it!

I think that there was to many cliche movie scenarios. Example: The heaven scene. It was pretty obvious what Sam had to do with that key.. He didn't need to "die" and go to robot heaven to find out. AND Meagan Fox.. I like Vagina, Meagan's would would be cool wrapped around my penis.. but did we need to see her bent over everything in the movie? I could have bought every maxim magazine for the past two years to see that. Don't get me wrong. I liked it, but it happened so often that it was comical. The fight scene when optimus dies is so choppy its hard to follow. Everything is jumping around so much I didn't know what the hell I was looking at. Other than those minor complaints any movie with giant robots kicking each others asses is awesome.

I felt the same exact way. That just watching this movie made me stupider. It was waaaay too long. Anyone else notice how Sam was put on a co ed floor of his dorm and only his room had guys while every other person in there was a ridiculously hot girl? Not to sound like I'm complaining cause I love hot girls but come on Bay, this movie was just a bloated, migrane infusing ego trip. And the action wasn't that exciting. The climax was a U.S. military commercial with slow mo Megab Fox. The action in Terminator salvation was much better.

The climax was a U.S. military commercial with slow mo Megab Fox. The action in Terminator salvation was much better.

I will say that in my opinon... Transformers 2 was the best summer movie so far... sadly that's not saying much...
The jokes they threw in were ok in some points, but in others it amounted to robots using vulgar language for a cheap laugh (no problem with the language here... just wish they would have tried harder for laughs)
The story was decent, and a nice continuation of the first movie... there were some points where it felt a little disjointed... but overall not too bad...
It definitely seemed like there were some scenes that were just an excuse to blow things up... the fight scenes were well done, but suffered from the same problems of the first movie... the camera does a lot more moving than is really necessary... wanting to show off scale and effects is one thing... but swinging around the camera that much during a fight scene just serves to give the audience motion sickness.
The scene with the "human" transformer chasing the mains was kinda off IMO - never really seen transformers that pull the "Terminator routine" by looking like humans... why wouldn't they all do that... and in that case... why not just turn this into terminator? I think that was a bit out of place...

worth paying to go see in the theaters if you're a fan of either Transformers or ridiculous amounts of explosions... otherwise... probably wait for DVD

I'm not asking for an intricate plot... I'm asking for one without all the holes and confusion... the plot just jumps around - and it seems that Bay is happy to diverge from the plot just to show another fight or blow something else up...

I'm not going to preach about being completely true or loyal to the story from the old series... but at least staying coherent with the plot you are making would be nice...

for an example of making an epic movie with a great plot... see The Dark Knight... nolan manages to put in the "WOW" moments, but keep the plot moving in a logical fashion - without having to jump around...

I don't think it's too much to ask to have some sort of reasonable plot... instead of just an excuse to blow up as much as possible and show a ton of jumpy, sweeping fight scenes that in the end leave the watcher more seasick than wowed...

People need to stop hating on this movie, it was a fun action movie with humorous moments and plenty of jaw-dropping action sequences.

I have mixed feelings of this one... it was dumb, it was underplotted and it was a times too chaotic, but I was also terribly entertained by it. Far too many explosions, though... should've been called "Explosions: The Movie."

Been two hours since I saw it and I still don't know for sure if I liked it more than I hated it or viceversa. What I know is that the first one was better, though.

After the first pile of garbage was over I was literally choking on my own rage. The fact that this seizure inducing movie is going to be huge makes me embarrassed to be human. Michael Bay can direct an explosion, what a talent! The man is garbage, he is blatantly ripping himself off with certain shots. I like the content of this site but the people leaving comments are moronic on a grandiose scale.

I just found an awesome q&a with the cast members of Transformers 2. There were clips with MEGAN FOX where she talked about SHIA LABEOUF and how she thinks she is “useless” to herself. Josh Duhamel and Tyrese also talk about the movie and which Transformer they would want to be. Personally I am an optimus prime fan! Here’s the link:

Hope you enjoy as much as I did!!

"ROTF" is absolutely amazing. Michael Bay's masterpiece. For those of you who hated it, I'm sorry. Either your expectations were too high or you just didn't realize what genre of movie you were watching. Here's a clue and the plot in case you missed it: IT'S GIANT F****** ALIEN ROBOTS FIGHTING TO SAVE EARTH FROM OTHER GIANT F******* ALIEN ROBOTS.
