I'm really happy about Anderson getting nominated, as There Will Be Blood is my favorite 2007 picture, but I agree that there's no chance it will win Best Director or Best Picture...it's just too....unsettling. I would love for it to sweep, but I think that it's a lock for Best Actor and that's about it. I think No Country for Old Men is slightly more appealing for the Academy...Sure, No Country for Old Men is pretty dark, but it still has like...an appealing aspect to it. I don't know what I'm trying to say. I guess that basically No Country for Old Men is much more accessible than TWBB, and the Academy always picks the audience approved choice, generally. I'm shocked that Oscar-bait Atonement isn't just sweeping every award. Never have I been as bored as I was during that film. Blech.

Honorable mentions I forgot to include: Cronenberg, Eastern Promises; Herzog, Rescue Dawn; Brewer, Black Snake Moan.

Does anyone else agree or disagree with the DGA's selections?
