Daybreakers

Those who are like me will note that the first trailer for Daybreakers, the bleak apocalyptic vampire flick from the resourceful and über-talented Spierig brothers, was brilliant. Enough to draw us into the film’s grim aesthetic and semi-unique story, but not a clubbing of plot details and early-90s voice over. This second trailer however, comes complete with the voice over and the plot detail bludgeoning. The film is still on my own personal watch list as a post-awards season vacation from high drama, but this trailer isn’t something I’m running to watch over and over again. Perhaps I should revisit that first trailer to wash the taste from my mouth.

To see the second trailer, you need only scroll below, as I’ve embedded it below, courtesy of Yahoo Movies. Daybreakers tells the following story: In the year 2019, a plague has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind. It stars Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Isabel Lucas and Sam Neill. Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, it hits theaters on January 8, 2010.
