Ellen Page might be advantaged by her 'Juno-Whip It' image. The average movie-goer will be pleasantly surprised seeing her in a darker role. We (us film fans) have already seen her play Salander-esque characters very very well. See Hard Candy (2005) and The Tracey Fragments (2007).

Her physical appearance is almost uncanny with Salander. It's a good start.

Kristen would be perfect. I think shes only being mentioned because of her role as joan jett. I doubt shed do this movie. she hates big studio stuff. if not kristen, then carey would be good. idk, i think because of all the debate, fincher will get an unknown just to mindfuck everyone

The twilight girl would be a terrible choice. I also can't see Mulligan in the role, but at least she can act. I think they would be safer going with an unknown. I love the idea of Ellen Page as Lisbeth, but she seems too cutesy.

are you joking? she's an awful actor. twilight is actually a half decent story and she makes the movies unbearable to watch. she can only do on screen what she does in real life: pout and mumble. she's the complete opposite of lisbeth slander, it's practically guaranteed the movies will suck if ks is cast.

I found this recent English interview with Noomi Rapace who was sensational as Salander in the Swedish adaptation. Noomi Rapace pulled off one of the female performances of the last decade in her portrayal of Salander! Believe me,it won't be topped! When I read the whole trilogy I couldn't help but think of Salander as Ellen Page. Larsson refers to Lisbeth as being about 150 centimetres (4'10), easily mistaken for a teenage boy and looking like she had just 'emerged from a week long orgy'. No matter how talented Kristen Stewart is meant to be she has too much negative stigma from The Twilight Saga. The Millennium Trilogy isn't a teenage girl franchise. It's challenging, intelligent, political and a scene depicting the severe anal rape of 'the girl from Twilight' won't go down very well. Carey Mulligan is talented but is too damned tall!!! Salander's short stature is integral to the plot! Clooney has Blomqvist in the bag (no matter how much we all don't like him); it's not a challenging character to portray plus he has the middle aged- rugged- woman magnet look down to a tee and massive box office pull.

Rudin+ Zaillian + Finch= Excitement.

Kristen would be fine, but typecast. Natalie is to cute, so is Carey. Someone suggested Ellen Page.
IMHO the best cast would be a completely fresh face, and then use an A-lister as Blomkvist

I stand in awe of your ability to see through The Game. I know I get in trouble for worshiping Fincher, but The Game is built brilliantly and enigmatically.

Plus, the ending could have easily been that he wasn't playing the game. Everything still would have fit. That's the true sign that the ride was more important than a twist at the end. Brilliant stuff. Great movie.

I soo hope this happens! The films are good as is but I expected there to be an English remake and Fincher is the perfect director for this. Carey Mulligan is certainly an interesting choice as Lisbeth, she was wonderful in An Education and I can see her pulling it off once you get her into the right gear. I'm definitely against Kristen Stewart but I also like the thought of Portman in the lead. Christina Ricci is always good for tough edgy women as well.

Why not KS..she fits the criteria needed for this role..she can paly dark..edgy..tuff..fiesty and has the acting chops to pull it off ..like it or not she'd be awesome in this movie..now that I think about it I hope she is the cast ..you''ll survive ..trust.

fantastic books, the swedish movies were great, and good news that fincher is on it. for the love of all that is good though, NOT KRISTEN STEWART.
