Dark Knight Update: The Joker Plays More Games, The Bat Goes to Hong Kong

why-so-serious-letter.jpgThe hits just keep on coming from the Warner Brothers camp as they continue to think up more fun ways to virally market The Dark Knight. The film doesn’t hit theaters until June of 2008, but The Joker (played by Heath Ledger) is already messing with our minds. This week, he rotting pumpkin over at WhySoSerious.com turned into a puzzle that involved “clowns” from all over the U.S. gathering clues from their cities and piecing them together to form the message: “The Only Sensible Way To Live In This World Is Without Rules”. The phrase then gave way to the following new photo from the film:

This Joker continues to look creepier and creepier, making me that much more excited to see the first five minutes of The Dark Knight when it runs in IMAX in front of I Am Legend in December. But back to the WhySoSerious photo; when you click on the image it takes you to a brand new viral website, RorysDeathKiss.com.

So as you can see, The Joker would like all of you “clowns” out there to get on your make-up and take to the streets, grab some pictures and send them in. You can upload them here. Applications are accepted through Midnight on November 17. Until then, we will be anxiously awaiting more fun with The Joker.

Also on the Dark Knight warpath is my good friend Peter over at /film, who has dug up some info on where (and how) the production will be filming next. Warner Bros. sent out notices to folks in Hong Kong this week announcing that there will be aerial filming for the film from November 6 through the 9th. The aerial shots will be introducing Hong Kong in the film. There will also be some shots of low-flying C130. All of this will be done with state-of-the-art IMAX cameras. So if you live in Hong Kong and you happen to get a good shot of Batman trolling around your town, send it over to us: editors@filmschoolrejects.com.

We will keep you posted on all things Dark Knight, so stay tuned ya clowns!
