post-joker.jpgFor some reason I have a feeling that all of you Batman fiends out there will be interested in this little tidbit. Our friends at Collider have uncovered some news from the set of The Dark Knight, next year’s sequel to the 2005 smash Batman Begins. The good news is that we won’t have to wait much longer to see some actual footage of Heath Ledger in action as The Joker. The not so good news is that we are going to have to pay a little extra to see it.

Collider is reporting (via Omelete) that there will be 6 to 7 minutes of Dark Knight footage in front of the IMAX release of I Am Legend, starring Will Smith. This is undoubtedly to help promote the fact that with Knight, director Christopher Nolan is looking to raise the bar for IMAX performance. At this point, the only thing this announcement will do is sell more tickets to I Am Legend. Which come to think of it, really isn’t bad news at all. Legend looks to be pretty bad ass.

Back to the Joker footage; it is being said that it will be a prologue to The Joker’s storyline, setting up what will take place in the film. Of course, none of this has been confirmed by the folks at Warner Brothers, but I’m sure we will here something soon. No matter how it plays out, it could be a very savvy marketing ploy on their part. For us, we get to see a
little bit of the new Joker. That should keep us good and soiled for a while, at least.

The Dark Knight is set for release on July 18, 2008.
