Dakota Fanning gets Supernatural Powers

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin, Wicker Park) recently announced the four actors set to star in his latest pre-production film, simply titled Push. In addition to Hollywood regulars Chris Evans (Johnny Storm of the Fantastic Four movie franchise), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, Constantine), and Camilla Belle (When a Stranger Calls), McGuigan has also secured controversial child star Dakota Fanning for this supernatural thriller. The child star (Charlotte’s Web, War of the Worlds) made headlines this year after writer/director Deborah Kampmeier’s independent film Hounddog premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this past January.

The film, written by little known television screenwriter David Bourla, revolves around the attempts of a group of Americans with telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities to hide from a U.S. government agency in Hong Kong and the experiences afforded them by the need to bond together and use their unique talents to succeed.

While little else is known about the film—characters names, for example—one thing is certain: Dakota Fanning’s recently acquired supernatural powers haven’t done anything for her less than aesthetically pleasing facial features, which virtually guarantee that she will die a virgin… unless of course Fanning is a method actress and that look of pain and fear plastered across her face during the rape scene in Hounddog was more sincere than we’d like to imagine (which would actually justify the uproar caused by the Catholic League and other child protection advocates over the scene… but shouldn’t these agencies be more concerned for Dakota’s little sister, Elle, who is following in her sister’s footsteps at the tender age of 9? I mean, obviously Dakota is a lost cause at age 12, but Elle…).
