Daily Grind: The News We Missed
Daily Grind: The News We Missed - April 7
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on April 7, 2008

If you are a consistent reader of this site (and we certainly hope that you are) then you already know that we don’t post 30 news articles everyday. If we are lucky, sometimes we lay down 15-20, but we never get around to covering everything that happens around the ole’ movie web. With that in mind, we would like to introduce our new daily feature, The Daily Grind. Here, we will throw you some links that can be both useful and informative, along with little snippets of commentary that will hopefully make you giggle.
And away we go…
Kanye West is Now a Movie Journalist [KanyeUniverseCity]
It appears that Kanyizy has taken to photo journalism this week, snapping some photos during a visit to the Jim Henson Creature Shop. Along with some of the goofy puppets from his upcoming tour (which is rumored to have a big dragon or something), Kanye caught what looked to be a character from Spike Jonze’s film Where the Wild Things Are (seen to the right). Good going Kanye, its good to know that you could always fall back on Movie Blog Spy Reporter if that rapping thing doesn’t work out.
A Hellboy 2 Viral Site? [ShockTillYouDrop]
While most of us are in the process of deciding whether or not we’ve had enough viral marketing this year thanks to The Dark Knight, the folks at Universal have already decided in our honor that we have not, in fact, had enough. They have launched some viral stuff for the upcoming Hellboy sequel, which is probably going to just confuse people either way, so I don’t see the point.
Trick ‘R Treat Goes into Distribution Limbo [Slashfilm]
Just when you thought a major studio was going to release a good horror movie that is in English (Ahem, The Orphanage was in Spanish), Warner Brothers swoops in and slams the door shut on the buzz-heavy Halloween flick from writer/director Michael Dougherty, taking it off their 2008 slate. Oh well, there is always Halloween 2009…
Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana 3-D Concert Goes Blu-ray [High Def Digest]
I won’t even say it… You perves.
Michelle Rodriguez talks Avatar [Cinematical]
Ms. Rodriguez loosens her house arrest anklet and talks a little bit about how “sick” of a director James Cameron as. As if we didn’t know that already — he made a movie where the majority of people die horrible deaths in the middle of the freezing Atlantic Ocean.
UA / MGM Push Back Valkyrie [Variety]
Ok Tom Cruise, we get it, you are Xenu’s gift to mankind. But when your own company is pushing back your movie, it might be time for a long look in the mirror.
Repo! The Genetic Opera gets its own Website [ShockTillYouDrop]
Might we remind you that this is the movie where Paris Hilton may or may not have her organs removed on screen? Start lining up now…
Toni Collette Signs on for Upcoming Sam Mendes Flick [THR]
Collette joins “The Office” star John Krasinski and “SNL” starlet Maya Rudolph in an upcoming romantic comedy from Sam Mendes. And you wonder why we didn’t dedicate an entire post to this one… Snore.
That is all we have for today, kiddies… Until tomorrow, stay clean.
