Cruise v. Denzel for Cronenberg’s ‘Circle’
Casting Couch By Cole Abaius on February 11, 2009 | (14) CommentsI was really hoping this news would involve Tom Cruise growing a chest vagina, but so far no story details have emerged. There’s still time, though. Keep your fingers crossed for Videodrome 2: Scientology Boogaloo.
Instead, Tom Cruise is still in talks to star alongside Denzel Washington in Cronenberg’s adaptation of The Matarese Circle, the Robert Ludlum spy thriller. The two would play competing clandestine agents who fight and team up when they become targets of a group inciting a conspiracy.
If that doesn’t sound awesome enough, it’s being scripted by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt (Sic ‘Em) so we know that 1) it will be full of great action and dialog and 2) someone named Darden will be die in it.
According to Variety, MGM will be releasing the film sometime in 2010.
What do you think? Cronenberg/Cruise/Denzel? Action spy thriller?
