As if we needed to another reason NOT to go to the movies, there are now some talks about an “American Idol” themed movie. Simon Cowell, televisions most lovable asshole (right next to Denis Leary in “Rescue Me”), is putting together a film titled STAR STRUCK. The film will be Idol-esque in that is will follow ten characters as they try to make it to the end of similar competition.
Cowell will also be holding open auditions for the part, where he will not only pick his ten unknown leads but destroy the self-respect of countless wannabes. Should be fun.
British TV writer Jonathan Harvey is already working on the script for a director that is yet to be announced. The project should be up and running soon, as Cowell is hoping to get it into theaters next summer, just after the next season of American Idol. Personally, I can’t think of anything better to do once Idol is over — more Idol!
