The vamps partner up with their respective prey, but once the first bite is taken, all outside doors and windows shut and lock themselves. The first not-quite-accident happens very quickly after this, killing one of the vamps, but the next one kills a human, letting both sides know that the poltergeist doesn't care: it'll kill everyone.
