ComingSoon.net has got a first look at the teaser poster for 2009′s relaunch of the Conan character, famously portrayed by body builder turned actor turned Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The poster looks to razzle and dazzle you with a sweaty flexed bicep, long flowing hair, a winning tan, and oh yeah, a huge sword.
While very little is known about the upcoming film we can tell you that it’s planned for a 2009 release and that the film will probably be more inline with the series of books rather than the previous incarnations of the character. What does this mean? Well, it’s good news I’d say. While I hate to see Arnold go, he’s not right for a relaunch of the series (and it’s doubtful he’d even come back) this is good news. The literary Conan is one bad mofo who is down with stealing, slashing, stabbing, smashing, sexing, and killing. Sounds epic to me. So take a look at the teaser image, which does get me a touch excited, but this film is still a long ways off.
On The Side: Another Schwarzenegger Conan film was planned for some time which would have featured an aging King Conan was again take up his sword, however, that film looks less and less likely with every passing second.
