CON Preview: Watchmen, Watchmen and More Watchmen!
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on July 18, 2008

During last year’s Comic-Con, 300 director Zack Snyder gave us our first taste of his vision for the adaptation of the mother of all graphic novels, Alan Moore’s Watchmen. At that time he debuted the poster and promised that he would be back “next year” to show us all sorts of cool stuff from the film, which at that time was just getting underway with production.
As it turns out, next week’s Comic-Con is the “next year” of which he spoke, and fans are yearning to see more. This week saw the released of the first teaser trailer, which seems to have been met with a tidal wave of positive response. Casual on-lookers are intrigued, die-hard fans are engaged and everyone else is starting to take notice of Watchmen.
Who’s watching the Watchmen? If things keep going the way they are going, the answer will be everyone.
What should we expect at the Con? Director Zack Snyder has given us a trailer this week and we expect things to only get better next week. Snyder will be holding court in Hall H on Friday at 11:55am. Cast appearances are still to be announced, but I would expect to see some of the main players, possibly Jeffrey Dean Morgon, Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup and hopefully the always enticing Malin Ackerman.
In order to help us get you ready for Watchmen at Comic-Con, Warner Bros. has sent over a few images from the film (click to enlarge):
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as The Comedian
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as The Comedian and Carla Gugino as the original Silk Spectre
Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl II with Malin Akerman in the background as Silk Spectre II
Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach
Billy Crudup as Jon Osterman in transformation into Dr. Manhattan
