Christopher Nolan Holding Batman 3 Decision for Later

After what feels like months of radio silence around director Christopher Nolan and rumors of him making a follow-up to The Dark Knight, we have finally reached a point of boredom so great that more rumors are needed. This time, it comes from the generally reliable folks at Batman-on-Film, who are reporting that a “trusted source” inside Warner Bros. has said that both the studio and Nolan are planning on making some sort of announcement in January.
Not odd in any way, this would coincide with the start of the marketing push around Nolan’s next film, Inception, which is currently in post production and set for release on July 16, 2010. We can only assume that if this is true and an announcement is made, it will be one that will have a positive effect on the masses of Nolan fans (i.e. they probably wouldn’t announce that Nolan isn’t doing another Batman film in the promotional period leading up to his next film.)
Either way, it is clear that Warner Bros. will be moving forward with another Batman film, as it is clear that fans will continue to pay to see them. With or without Nolan, they will likely greenlight another film and have it ready in the next 2-3 years. As a fan, I hope that Nolan comes back for another film. Who’s with me?
