chrispine.jpgIt has been suspected for a little over a week now that J.J. Abrams has chosen Chris Pine (Just My Luck) as the heir apparent to William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk in his upcoming Star Trek reboot. And while Abrams was rumored to be intent on having Pine in the captain’s chair it appeared, at least for a moment, that Pine may be considering passing on Trek to go another round with Smokin’ Aces director Joe Carnahan on White Jazz.

All that was laid to rest today though, as Carnahan revealed on his blog that Pine was dipping out of Jazz to “boldly go where no man has gone before.” Gee, I wonder what that means. Thanks Joe for being the spoiler. I’m sure that you will get an invite to the premiere. Anyway, Carnahan gave good wishes to his boy all while holding out hope that Pine won’t get sucked into multiple sequels, leaving him free to come back to team Carnahan for Killing Pablo.

As for Trek, we should be seeing an official announcement soon on Kirk. We’ll keep you posted.
