Rick Baker has shown several times that he is more than capable of creating an original wolfman concept. I would go out on a limb and say the director probably was shooting for a throw back to the original. Of course anyone who knows Rick knows he loves all the old monster movie designs and it would not be hard to convince him to do another. But that seems to be the mode that Hollywood is in these days. Nothing new, just spew out remakes of everything that was ever popular with the hopes that it will somehow draw the same crowd to see it again for nostalgia's sake if nothing else.
