Rumor: Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate Connor?

It looks like director McG has found his replacement for the role of Kate Connor in his upcoming film Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (lame title if you ask me). According to the Hollywood Reporter, the role that was originally given to Charlotte Gainsbourg (I’m Not There) could in fact be filled by Lady in the Water and Spider-man 3 star Bryce Dallas Howard, daughter of renowned director Ron Howard. Gainsbourgh had to back out of the role because of scheduling conflicts with another film.
Kate Connor is the wife of the main character and hero, John Connor, who leads a revolution against enslaving artifical intelligence in order to save the human race from becoming extinct. John Connor will be played by Christian Bale, star of the upcoming summer blockbuster The Dark Knight. Production on the new Terminator film is already underway in New Mexico.
Personally, I can’t say that I dig Howard as an actress. Not that she is entirely to blame by any means (unless a performance is particulary bad, the blame usually goes to the director and writer(s)), but she has been involved in some absolutely disastrous motion pictures and her appearances have coincidently marked the downfall of M. Night Shyamalan films and the collapse of the Spider-man franchise as we know it.
Sound Off: Will Bryce Dallas Howard suffice as Kate Connor?
